Last time I was in St. Louis, I woke up to find strangers in my backyard turning the lawn upside down in large machinery. I asked, “Who are you, and what are you doing?” My dad emerged from behind a large mud pile near the far end of my backyard and excitedly explains he has begun making one of his dreams a reality….the strangers were hired to start building waterfall type structures in my backyard.
Today, Roger comes home from a weekend in St. Louis to report our new landscaping, which my dad dropped a good college education’s worth of money for, looks great. But, that the neighbor is going to sue, because one of the waterfalls is too high. Legal fees alone are going to cost dad, even if he does win this civil case. This waterfall debacle is going to cost more than I’ll ever make as a journalist.
